Congratulations to our scholarship recipients for 2025-2026.

UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS:
HCBFFA is committed to the future of our industry. Each University Scholarship award will offer as much as $5,000.00 per academic year. This scholarship will only be awarded to students attending a Texas University or College who are actively pursuing a degree in Logistics & Transportation or another Supply Chain related field.
Please email your completed application, a letter of recommendation from a non-family member, a two-part written essay of at least 500 words following the below instructions to [email protected]
Essay Instructions:
Part One: Share your Leadership Lessons Learned Through Teamwork, Work, or Volunteer Experience and highlight skills relevant to logistics and trade environments. (Please submit at least 250 words or more)
Part Two: Please choose one of the below topics and provide your perspective on current industry challenges. Include an overview of the issue and describe how you see this impacting your career and your opinion on how the issue can be combated. (Please submit at least 250 words).
1. Stakeholder Ethics in the Global Supply Chain: The importance of ethical responsibility in the global supply chain balancing profits with fair wages, safe conditions, and community impact for workers and local populations.
2. The Impact of Trade Remedy Tariffs on Importers, Brokers, and Global Supply Chains: Analyze how these measures affect business decisions and compliance strategies.
The use of AI to draft the content of your essay is not allowed and scans for AI usage will be made in reviewing the essay content. AI usage rules are defined below, and a signed application confirms your understanding of these AI rules.
Allowed uses of AI in drafting of the required essay:
- Brainstorming ideas
- Organizing an outline
- Checking grammar or clarity
- Getting feedback on a draft written by you
Not allowed uses of AI in drafting the required essay:
- Generating full paragraphs or entire essays
- Paraphrasing AI-generated content and submitting it as your own
- Using AI to answer prompts without original analysis
Please note that this scholarship program grants priority handling for HCBFFA Member Firm Employees & children pursuing a career in Supply Chain/ Logistics or any other International Trade related discipline.

CUSTOMS BROKERS LICENSING EXAM & PREP COURSE SCHOLARSHIPS:
HCBFFA is committed to excelling the professional careers of our local port colleagues by offering a scholarship to cover the fees associated with a Brokers Exam Prep Course along with reimbursement of the application fees paid to CBP for the exam itself. Applicants can choose from one of the approved in person or virtual Exam Prep courses listed below and should email the Brokers Exam Scholarship application with a separate 200-word essay with your professional goals to [email protected]. HCBFFA will pay the Brokers Exam Prep course host directly for your registration and reimburse the applicant for the Exam fees upon (regardless of pass/ fail status) receipt of their answer key to serve as proof of exam. Applicants will need to enroll for the US Customs Brokers Exam direct with CBP by their enrollment deadline which can be found posted on CBP's website here.

Deadline:October Brokers Exam, the deadline is set for the 1st of April each year and the April exam's deadline is by the 1st of October each year.
EVENTS / CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS:
HCBFFA is committed to the continuing education of our local port colleagues. Throughout the year there are events for which HCBFFA will pay the registration fee directly to the event host for our awarded candidate(s). Opportunities for these scholarships will be emailed to our members throughout the year. Applicants should email the below Events Scholarship Application and a 200-word essay as to how attendance at the event will benefit their professional career to scholarship@hcbffa.org
